03Purpose of the Website
The Website gives general information about Veritas, our services, our platforms (VeriGov, Vela, CHIS and WFMS) and the sectors we serve, and lets you contact us. The Website does not sell goods or services online, and no contract for services is formed through it.
Every engagement with Veritas is governed by a separate written proposal, appointment letter, service agreement or licence agreement. If anything in those documents conflicts with these Terms, those documents apply.
04Information on the Website
We take care to keep the information on the Website accurate and current. The content is provided for general information only and is not professional engineering, legal, financial or technical advice for your specific situation. You should not act on it without first obtaining advice that takes your circumstances into account. Please contact us if you would like that advice.
Descriptions of our platforms explain their general features. The exact functions, service levels and pricing for any deployment are set out in the agreement for that deployment.
05Acceptable use
You agree to use the Website lawfully and in a way that does not harm Veritas or anyone else. In particular, you must not:
- try to gain unauthorised access to the Website, its servers or any connected system,
- probe, scan or test the security of the Website without our written permission,
- introduce viruses, malware or other harmful code,
- use automated tools to copy, scrape or overload the Website,
- send spam, false enquiries or unlawful, abusive or defamatory content through our forms, or
- pretend to be another person or organisation.
We may block access to the Website from any person or network that breaches these rules.
06Intellectual property
The Website and its content, including text, graphics, logos, the Veritas name and diamond mark, the names VeriGov, Vela, CHIS and WFMS, page layouts, images and software, are owned by or licensed to Veritas and are protected by South African and international intellectual property laws.
You may view, download and print pages for your own information or for evaluating our services. You may not otherwise copy, reproduce, change, publish, distribute or commercially use any part of the Website without our prior written consent. Nothing on the Website grants you a licence to use our trade marks.
07Enquiries and information you send us
When you send us an enquiry, you confirm that the information is accurate and that you are entitled to share it. Please do not send confidential tender documents, trade secrets or special personal information through the Website form. If confidential information needs to be shared, we will arrange a suitable channel and, where appropriate, a non disclosure agreement.
We handle personal information you send us as described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
08Links to other websites
The Website may link to websites run by others, such as LinkedIn or Google Maps. These links are provided for convenience. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. A link does not mean that we endorse the linked website.
09Availability and security
We aim to keep the Website available and secure but cannot guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of errors, viruses or other harmful components. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the Website at any time without notice. You are responsible for protecting your own devices and data when using the internet.
10Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Veritas, its directors, employees and agents will not be liable for any direct, indirect, special or consequential loss or damage of any kind arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Website or any information on it, or from your reliance on that information.
The Website and its content are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under South African law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, where that Act applies.
11Indemnity
You indemnify Veritas against any claim, loss, damage, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) that arises from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of the Website.
12Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be published on this page with a new “Last updated” date and will apply from the date of publication. Your continued use of the Website after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. You agree to the jurisdiction of the South African courts, including the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Johannesburg, for any dispute about the Website or these Terms. Before taking formal action, both parties will try in good faith to settle any dispute by discussion.
14General
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that part will be removed and the rest will continue to apply. If we do not enforce a right under these Terms, we have not given up that right. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and Veritas about your use of the Website.
